Qurban Reflection 2014

Alhamdulillah. Another Eid-ul Adha has passed, and as we reflect on this sacred occasion, we are once again reminded of the power of giving. Through the generosity of our donors, Tabung Amanah Hati Nusantara (TAHN) successfully carried out Qurban distributions in Syria and Myanmar (Rakhine State).

For many of us, Qurban is a tradition—something we perform as an act of devotion. But for the Rohingya in Myanmar and displaced Syrians, it is much more. It is hope, it is dignity, and sometimes, it is the only proper meal they will have all year.

Thanks to you, families in Rakhine State, Idlib, and Hama were able to celebrate Eid with warmth, comfort, and full stomachs.

A Rare Celebration for the Rohingya

In 2014, the plight of the Rohingya in Myanmar was worsening. Living in squalid refugee camps, denied citizenship, and with limited access to food, many of them struggled to survive day to day.

For these families, Qurban is not just a meal—it is a moment of relief. Thanks to your generosity, TAHN, in collaboration with Rohingya Society Malaysia, was able to distribute funds for Qurban to be carried out directly in Rohingya villages and camps in Myanmar.

The impact was immediate. For the first time in months, families were able to sit together, share a meal, and celebrate Eid in a way they otherwise could not. The children, who often go to sleep hungry, were able to enjoy the special occasion with full plates and grateful hearts.

Your contributions made a difference. You reminded them that, even in their suffering, they are not alone.

A Moment of Joy for Syrian Children

The war in Syria had already entered its fourth year, leaving millions displaced. Cities like Idlib and Hama, once vibrant and full of life, had become places of uncertainty and hardship. But amidst the destruction, there was a reason to smile this Eid.

With the help of Youth for Syria, who were on the ground to oversee the distributions, we ensured that your Qurban donations reached the families who needed them most. Fresh meat was distributed to Syrian families, many of whom had not had proper meals for weeks.

For the children, Eid is supposed to be a time of happiness, but for those living in makeshift shelters, joy is often a distant memory. This Qurban, your kindness brought those smiles back.

They may not have had new clothes. They may not have had sweets or gifts. But for one day, they had the comfort of knowing that people from across the world cared for them.

Gratitude Beyond Words

When we started this effort, we never imagined how far we could reach. But year after year, your kindness has helped us go beyond borders.

To our donors, your generosity made this possible.

To Rohingya Society Malaysia and Youth for Syria, your work on the ground ensured every family received their share.

To the Rohingya and Syrian families, we see you, we care, and we will continue to support you.

May Allah bless all who contributed and allow us to continue spreading love, hope, and sustenance to those in need. Ameen.
